DESCRIPTION:After a one-session absence due to Covid\, Hill County residents are invited to participate in a full day of activities at the capitol in Austin for Hill County Day.  \n\n\n\nFor the first time since 1981\, one of its own\, Angelia Orr of Itasca represents Hill County in the House of Representatives.\n\n\n\nThis year's event will be Thursday\, March 16\, and will include visiting with state leaders and attending opening sessions for both the House of Representatives and Senate.\n\n\n\nA catered barbecue meal will be served at noon in the Legislative Conference Center in the capitol's underground extension.\n\n\n\nSenator Brian Birdwell and Representative Orr are expected to address the group during lunch.\n\n\n\nSpeakers for the afternoon include representatives from Comptroller of Public Accounts\, Secretary of State\, Texas Farm Bureau and another state agency.\n\nThe cost of the bus trip and lunch is $30 per person. For those taking their own vehicle\, lunch will be $20.\n\n\n\nSponsors for the trip include Neal T. (Buddy) Jones and HillCo Partners and Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce-Platinum\; Oncor and Citizens National Bank-Gold\, HILCO-Silver and Paulette and Eugene Fulton and Hubbard Chamber of Commerce-Bronze\n\n\n\nThe trip is hosted each legislative session by chambers of commerce from Hillsboro\, Whitney\, Itasca and Hubbard.\n\n\n\nTwo buses have been reserved to carry 100 local residents on the trip. The group will leave Historic City Hall at 127 East Franklin Street in Hillsboro at 6:30 a.m. and return at approximately 6:30 p.m.\n\n\n\nTo make reservations or for more information\, contact the Hillsboro chamber at 254-582-2481 or 1-800-HILLSBORO. Paid reservations are required by Wednesday\, March 8.
