Step Inside Hill County’s Storied History

The Hill County Cell Block Museum is more than a collection of artifacts and stories. It offers a rare opportunity to walk through an authentic nineteenth-century Texas jail and sheriff’s residence under one roof.

Built in 1893, the building served as the Hill County Jail until 1983. Visitors can explore the historic sheriff’s living quarters, original jail spaces, and exhibits interpreting the people, communities, and events that shaped Hill County.

Admission is by voluntary donation. Tours may be self-guided or hosted by a museum volunteer. For private tours, filming, research visits, or additional access and information, please call 713-837-8219.

Hill County Museum, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN 74-2427537, operated by a volunteer board and volunteer staff.
