Aptil 15th Star Party at Lake Whitney State Park
Enjoy an evening in the park viewing the galaxy by using star maps, a laser pointer and telescope. Retired National Park Ranger and Astronomer Larry Smith will guide you through the planets, moon and stars.
Viewing space is limited, so please register your group by calling the park office during business hours at (254) 694-3973 or email Ranger Rita with the number of adults and children attending and a phone number to contact you if needed.
Plan the full 2 hours for this program that will start promptly at 8 pm.
Bring your own camp chairs if you would like more comfort or you may use the metal picnic tables spaced out in the area. Binoculars if you have them and a red beam light works best to not disturb the dark sky by phone or flashlight.
This event will be held across from our Group Rec Hall. Just follow the signs for parking and solar lights to the picnic tables.
Park entry permits are required on all vehicles. You may reserve online and print to display, purchase at the park office before closing at 4:30 p.m. or complete the self pay entry envelopes located across from the office by using correct cash amount.
If temps are below 55 or over 95 or raining, the event will be cancelled. We will call everyone that has signed up to inform you if this does occur.
