Food for Families HIM Ministries

KWTX’s Food for Families is an annual community-wide food drive dedicated to fighting hunger and supporting families in need throughout Central Texas. Organized by KWTX News 10 in partnership with H-E-B and the Longhorn Council, Scouting America, the campaign brings together individuals, businesses, schools, organizations and community partners to make a meaningful difference for their neighbors.

Through the collection of nonperishable food items and monetary donations, Food for Families helps restock local food pantries and provide essential resources to individuals and families facing food insecurity. Donations collected throughout the campaign stay within the communities where they are received, ensuring support reaches local residents who need it most. By working together, Central Texans can help make a lasting impact, provide hope and help ensure more families have access to nutritious food during the holiday season and throughout the year.

Locally, Hillsboro Interfaith Ministries coordinates the local food pantry. Since January, over 2600 households were served. They get their food from the Tarrant Area Food Bank where $1 will get two pounds of food, so monetary donations are welcomed as well. The collection date for Hillsboro will be November 20 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the drop off location at the Scout Hut at 915 Corsicana Highway.

Hillsboro Lions Club meets every Tuesday at noon at the Hillsboro First Methodist Church Family Life Center.
